Fiver duals

Newmar made those 8 tire rigs in their high line fivers for a number of years. They have since totally ended fifth wheel production. They were very nice, high end rigs, heavy and beautiful inside. I saw one this weekend while at Disney Ft. Wilderness. PCM

Yep, Newmar did Dual's on some of their 5th Wheels, do not need a triple axle setup when you have Dual's on two axles !!!!

Many years ago we were looking at the Kountry Air (?) with duals... DW could not wrap herself around the payments so we stopped looking...

I have a 2008 Newmar Kountry Aire 5th wheel that has dual wheels on each of its 2 axles. It is just under 40' long, with a gross weight limit of about 20,000#, although the last time I weighed it, we were around 18,500# as I recall.

I can only imagine the tire scrubbing that occurs on a tight turn.

We have a friend that has one. Sweet rig with a lot of owner-added tweaks inside. Towed with a tricked out Freightliner Spot Chassis.

Not much and certainly a lot less than on a triple axle. Well worth it for the load capacity and stability.

Newmar Mountain Aire and Kountry Aire had duals from around 2001 to the end of production. I think the last ones were 2010s or '11s. Most had GVWR around 20k.

Ours is 37' and, like "a flyfisher" above, 20k GVWR and about 18.5k loaded for long term travel.

I can see several benefits to this. Like a dually truck, if you had a blow out/flat, you could keep going (slowly) to the nearest tire shop
