Flush pedal on toilet in fifth wheel falls off

We have a Thetford Aqua-Magic Style ll toilet with the pedal on the right side. Lately it has been coming off. I looked at the Thetford video on their website on putting the pedal on and it is correct....not sure a new pedal will help because the one I have looks great. An RV Tech said this was just a bad design. New pedal or new toilet? Getting tired of putting it back on. Sealand 320 toilet looks good?
Your thoughts
  • Well the spring broke on ours and the wife did not like pulling up the peddle with her foot. So I drilled a hole in the peddle and tied a rope to it> Then I installed a pulley to the cabinet above the peddle laced the rope through the pulley so she has to just pull the rope to pull up the peddle . I and my friends
thought it was ingenious we all laughed she didn't .
  • On my second toilet (same model as yours). My pedal did not fall off but when I bought my second one at Camping World, the CW guy tried to get me to not buy that model as he said the pedal spring was designed poorly and failed often causing the pedal to fall off. 1st one lasted just over a year and second one is now about that old. The pedal can be yanked off quite easily but mine doesn't fall off....yet...
  • Get in touch with Thetford, they sent us a new toilet at no cost. It is a pedal design issue. I made a wood spacer to fit between the pedal and the wall until the new one showed up.
