Fridge Freeze

Just clipping it back on right hand fin will go along way in not freezing food :B

It measures the temp of the FIN so when it isn't clipped on fin it can't sense temp so fridge controls run and run and run.

Give it overnight then check temps....adjust UP/DOWN as needed.

OK you have a Dometic DM 2852 model fridge.

That fridge has a factory pre-set thermostat (non-adjustable) for temp control.

The thermistor can affect overall temp in food section by it's location on right hand fin in food section (4*F-6*F affect).
Sliding it UP will cause fridge controls to run longer making food section cooler.
Sliding it DOWN will cause fridge controls to run shorter making food section less cooler.

IF it is NOT attached to right hand fin and laying down on drip tray or hanging down loose it will cause fridge controls to continue to operate (due to lack of proper sensing) which can freeze items in food section.
If the thermistor fails it will also cause fridge controls to continue to operate freezing items.

SO YES you have a thermistor.......

Also that model of fridge has the optional fan mounted above absorber tank (mid position of fridge) in outside compartment to increase air flow (draft) across cooling unit. Fan is controlled by a thermodisc mounted on condenser fin (at top of cooling unit).
It would cause LACK of cooling if not working

Thermistor would be at end of 2 wires that come thru liner on right side of back wall in food section of fridge.

All Dometic full size RV fridges have them.

Unless you have a small compact type rv fridge with knob controls.

SO.......did you look for the data plate on inside of fridge or on backside for the model number?

What RV is this fridge in?

Open the door and locate the Identification Tag on left side or rear wall of the liner in the refrigerator.
On smaller units it may be on backside accessible thru lower sidewall vent.

All the model numbers in that were RM#s, the model i have starts with DM

Just a note many of the clips on the fins is just plain metal not white.

The Dometic manual I looked at is here.
It suggests (see page 4) that freezing is likely due to problems with the thermister or lower circuit board (see pg 11,12).
A replacement thermister costs $25-$50, circuit board much more.
