If the water starts to back up in the shower - I know that I should have dumped that gray tank, same w/ kitchen sink, I always dump black tank every week. The only time I have gray tanks closed is when in winter camping as I'm doing right now and temps for this weekend (2/15,16/15) is around minus 5 or 6 degrees otherwise in warm temps gray tanks are always open.
