How to repair rip in rubber roof

While giving the roof of my new to me 07 Ragen 21FB a good cleaning, I noticed a tear in the rubber roof near the roof rack area.
It looks like a skin avulsion with a flap approx 2in long.
I believe this roof is the EPDM. Its a texured rubbery substance.
I think the best way would be to get a square piece of the roofing material and glue it over the tear. Is this a way to repair it or what other procedures work?
Also, the joints all need to be recaulked. Is it better to remove the old caulking or clean it with denatured alcohol and caulk over the old?
I would think the existing is giving some protection and would only add to the sealing effect with the new stuff on top.
What do you guys think?

Before applying the Eternabond tape make sure you clean the area good. Use Spick and Span and a soft plastic brush to scrub the area. Let dry thoroughly before using the tape.

I've fixed a number of tears along with a giant hole (from a falling branch) by first filling with Dicor, then covering with a patch, then completely sealing around the patch with Dicor lap sealant. Never had any reaccurring issues ............Make sure you use Dicor v. any other sealants as it does not have any petroleum based additives in it...............Also the manufacturer of the roofs recommend using it. Make sure you clean area using Bar Keepers Friend or Bon Ami, first, to get the area very clean for good adhesion.........

I agree, Eternabond tape for the rip.
There is a vender on ebay, that sells it by the foot.
You can order just ONE foot.
