my slide seems very sluggish when it is cold outside. is this normal.

I mean cold in CA. it got to 21 last night then 45 day

Not necessarily..the viscosity of hydraulic oil becomes heavier as it gets colder. The pump has to work harder to force the oil through the lines. In our neck of the woods whenever they park a dump truck for the night they park it with the box raised. The weight of the box will force the fluid through the lines as it comes down and helps to loosen everything up.
