Interior can lighting question on 2010 Cardinal

We have a number of can ceiling lights on our 2010 Cardinal that light in groups for various areas of the rig. The kitchen group is a group of three. I believe that they are all LED lights. Only 2 of the lights were coming on a week ago and then it dropped to one and now none are coming on. I can't seem to figure out how to get into the cans. I even asked two different service guys at the Tampa RV show about accessing the lights and they weren't exactly certain or didn't describe it clearly.

I really doubt that it's a bulb issue, but I would at least like to be able to get into the cans to switch out some bulbs from other cans. Anybody have 1st hand knowledge of these lights? They are the typical can lights w/ a circular metal band around the outside.
  • Thanks for all of the helpful replies. I was able to get them out w/ your assistance. I'm also checking out the Cardinal RV site for relevant info.

Mine only have two large springs and the lens are actually removable w/o taking down the can. I still pulled down the cans so I could see how those work. It may come in handy in the future. Thanks again.
  • If it looks like this,

it just pulls down. You may need to use a suction cup to get a grip on it.
  • They are hard to unscrew with out pulling the cans down. The springs press against the back of the ceiling panel to hold the light in place and fold back as you pull the light. Just get under one edge and pull down.

The spring that you initially see as you pull the light down is just the coil portion. The rest of the spring extends behind the ceiling panel an 1 1/2" or so.
  • I'm sure they all work about the same. I've tried to unscrew, but they just turn w/o anything happening. I do see several springs, but not sure what you mean by "folding them back". Thanks for your help.
  • While I do not have the same trailer, I do have similar lights. On my rig the cans are simply pulled down. Each can has 3 spring clips that fold back as you pull the light out. The lens and ring unscrew counter clockwise.

    Hope this helps.
