This board seems pretty dead lately.
it's too bad but it sure seems that way.
On another note I'm hoping to do a lot of camping and riding this year! We've missed out on the last 3 summers. Not this summer! The Raptor just got a new roof on it (hail) and some other work so excited to go camping! Probably have another 1-2 trips snowmobiling on the mountain and then it will be waiting time for the snow to melt. - dedmistonModerator

Hello again, long time.
A little insight on mule Vs donkey.
Donkey is also know as a burro. A donkey is a domesticated burro. Both are identified by a black cross on the spine and across the shoulders. This is said to be to honor the donkey providing Jesus a ride during the crucifixion.
Mules are much larger than donkeys and are hybrids. They are a mix of a horse and donkey. They have no cross on their backs and are sterile.
You most likely saw burros.
Enjoy your summer,
Hap
Hey Hap - Great to hear from you. And thanks for the critter lesson. - DirtclodsExplorerYou can lead a donkey to water but it's still a jackass once it arrives

Heading out to Trona area on the 18th
Sounds nice.
We finally found the wild donkeys (mules?) out there. (I'm a city boy and don't know the difference.) I've been seeing their poop on the trails behind the Pinnacles for years, especially on the trail that loops around Searles Dry Lake that takes you into town (the "legal-ish" way to get to Trails Drive-In). I finally saw three of them on the trail behind the Pinnacles, and then we saw a huge herd behind the dry lake on the east side.
The critters can't read, or they don't care about the signs that say "Stay on trails. Live ordinance."
There are a lot of fun areas to explore around there. We've been picking through the trails the overlook the Pinnacles on the south side of the train tracks and towards Fish Rocks. There's one great little canyon that lets out at Trona Rd. across from Fish Rocks about a half mile towards Ridgecrest. I forget the name of the canyon now, but it's narrow and pretty. At one point it chokes down to the width of a SxS. There are a lot of caves along the way too. - DirtclodsExplorer

Yep. When’s your next trip?
We’re headed to SLO tomorrow for a conference at Cal Poly. Not too exciting.
Right on good for you.
