King Pin Question

On our unit, just above the pin is a round plastic disc. Basically it slides onto and sits on the hitch. Just had the unit pulled out of storage and noticed that the plastic disc is partially broken off. About half of it is missing. Is this going to cause a problem? I wouldn't think so, but don't want any surprises. THANKS

So they gave it to you for free+, good thinking!!
  • You might even be able to pick one up at a Walmart. They do have some RV stuff, kind of depends on the store as to what they have on hand.

  • That is a disc that reduces friction at the pivot point and are not messy as grease would be. They are inexpensive and should be available at any RV supply.
  • That plastic disc is called a lube plate. They are pretty cheap, around $10 or so. If you are only going a very short distance, it should be alright, but will increase wear on the hitch and pin box mating surfaces. You can put grease on the hitch to prevent wear, but the easiest and cleanest thing to do is just replace the lube plate.
