Kitchen drain valve problem

I have an '04 a Holiday Rambler Presidential fifth wheel. We were closing camp this weekend and my wife went to close the kitchen water drain valve and she heard a " snap" and the valve appears to be stuck open.

Something similar happened a few years back to our black water valve cable. The cable broke and I had to just replace the handle and cable. I got the unit from Valterra via Amazon.

Back to today. It started to pour rain when this happened. We had to get back for a graduation party, so I didn't have the time to open up the belly of our rv. I did open the area by the black tank valve but the kitchen waster water valve was not near it.

There is an opening on the other side of the waste piping, but it has never been opened. It is attached using the black plastic screws and some black type caulking. The black water valve area had the same type of opening. I am assuming the kitchen valve is located there along with the bathroom water valve.

Are the odds in my favor that just the cable broke and I don't need a new valve?

I am willing to tackle that project, but not a complete valve replacement. I am assuming the valve handle/ cable assembly is still available from Valterra. I can see many on their website but I don't know what length to order. I think I got the 36" before.

I had open heart surgery four months ago, so I can't do too much. I don't have a tow vehicle as my rv is permanently parked. Getting a mobile rv technician takes months in the summer.

My surgery cost me many thousands of $. I need advice on this subject. Any help is appreciated as I want to avoid the mobile rv repairmen if possible.

Between my heart and all kinds of little things breaking, 2014 is a pain in the you know what.
  • I just been there and done that. That valve with 6 foot cable is available on amazon. Check and make sure what size you need. My galley valve was 3".

It comes with instructions on how to cut the cable to the length you want.

Since it is summer time, as an interim, you can get one of those slider valves that twist onto your outlet just like the cap does. I did that last winter in FL when my black valve started leaking. Worked great.
