Lifting fiver

Hello everyone, need to pick your brains. I have an 06 Silverback, it has brackets at front and rear of leaf springs shackles and two more holes to be able to lift the unit. Would it handle a lot more different than now, meaning would it sway more after the lift? knowing that my height will be about three inches higher does that affect sway and leaning?

Thank you everyone for your voices. I phoned my buddy where my trailer was and asked him if he would do it for me and he said it would take about an hour, so he did it and it made a world of difference in the ride and the leveling, it was a little nose high before and now it is dead level and no sway, I had sway before worse when in crosswinds. he said the rear is the only part that lifted so it didn't change my clearance. so I am happy with the decision and comfortable with the ride:C

I also have an extra set of holes at the shackles. The hole centers would be two inches lower. I am riding a couple inches nose high, after the recent purchase of a new truck, with extra duty suspension.

I am thinking of using the lower holes, but wondering if it will actually give me a two inch lift, since their will be no height change at the equalizer?

I also would be interested to know what people use to adjust these settings? I am thinking of inserting a pry bar between spring and frame, to pull down to the next hole.

I hope I am not hijacking, but this info should be of interest to the OP as well.

There should not be noticable sway with a fiver. If your trailer is "swaying", there is something more than ride height involved.

Do you have sway? Your post makes it sound that way, unless that 5er is real nose high or extreamly pin light, you should have zero sway pulling a 5er with a 2500. If lifting the 5er it becomes closer to level you will likely solve any sway issue.

I have lifted 2, a 00 Jayco Eagle and a 07 Jayco JayFlight. Never felt any loss of stability, and both trailers pulled with less chucking do to not riding as nose high. On both of those trailers the net gain from the spring hangers was 2 inches. It does make the steps higher, and the JayFlight with upgraded 235/85/16’ LT tires needed blocks under the rear stabilizers.

You should not have any problems as long as trailer is fairly level. I don't think the manufacturer would have the extra holes if it would cause any problems, they are too scared of law suits. 🙂

Make sure you adjust your height accordingly to level when attached to your truck. You will also find at least in my situation that I had to add a step to our folding steps {kind of border line, but wife is short}. Our trailer came with it lifted which is great for dry camping in the woods {and sloped driveways}. I really can't answer honestly about swaying or any other differences as the trailer was already lifted when I bought it. But my dually does just fine with it {and it sits level}. Been across the country several times. I don't think you will have any problems maybe someone else will jump in to verify.
