Like a Fox ... Artic Fox that is.

We have found the perfect 5th wheel for us. It is the 27 Artic Fox. It has two slides. One for the free standing table and chairs/sofa. The other slide for the bedroom closest. There is room for one recliner. The length is only 27'. Now the problem ... There is no dealer anywhere near us. If they can put all that into a 27', surely someone else can also. We have searched and searched, but have had no luck. Does anyone know of a 5th wheel with the items described above (must have a recliner/free standing table)that is 29 feet or less. If we can't find anything else, we may need to consider a long trip to purchase one, but would first like to see if we have missed any other options.

Are you going from the Holiday Rambler to the Arctic Fox 27-5L or are you just adding to your stable?

That 27-5L is the wide body edition and being under 30 feet means you can stay in all the national and state parks as well. Or, after looking at your user name....maybe you're just going after a 5er that you can be comfortable in when you're up there skiing. :B

We had an AF 24 5N (no longer made) and liked the quality enough to look for a newer AF. We looked at the 27 but it just didn't have quite enough living and storage space so we ended up with a 2012 Arctic Fox 29 5T, which has just enough space and doesn't weigh much more than the 27. The 2013 is heavier and has larger tanks. The Fox Mountain is nice, but the AF is made on a much stronger platform.

While we went from the 24-5N to a 29-5E, today we would probably go with the 27-5L (which has a slightly different floor plan in earlier models, while now is more like the 29-5E)

When someone tells you to buy the same rig they own, listen, they might be right. When they tell you to buy a different rig then they own, really pay attention, they probably know something you don't.

We ordered our 2013 29-5T from a dealer in Mesa, Arizona in late December and drove out an picked it up in early March. There is only one dealer in Texas and he does not carry any units in stock....will only order for you. Nice fellow , but just could not cut a deal with him.

We had never even set foot in an Artic Fox so ordered one sight unseen. Sure glad we did, as this trailer has been everything we hoped for.

We have a 27 on the lot right now. Happy to take a few pics for you. We are a few thousand miles away and in a different country but if the pictures help I'm happy to email them up. Seems to me they have a dealer in Oklahoma as well. Gotta be somebody in your neck of the woods that sells them. Great trailer. If you phone the factory they should be able to tell you where the nearest stock is. 1-800-RON-NASH Good luck.

We have had an Arctic Fox 29-5T since 2007. We still have it, love it, and have had very few problems with it. We had two warrenty items that were repaired and two out of warranty items that I repaired as they were easy once I had the parts which Northwood shipped to me. One was a slide out motor that failed and the other was slight leak in the outside shower which developed after years of pounding on Louisiana roads. Hand tightened it and that was that. Thats all in seven years. We have done a lot of stuff to ours including adding full extension slides on all of the drawers, Nev-r-Adjust brakes, and so on. Haven't seen one of the new 29-5T's but since the design has been around for several years, it only gets better. I could not be happier with our trailer.

We have a 2001 35 ft alpenlite. We liked this brand and living 122 miles from the factory was one reason for it to be good purchase. Never needed to take it to the factory so my guess is the artic fox would still be a good purchase for you. We have a local rv dealer that does any repairs we have needed.

Actually, Fox Mountain is also built by Northwood and they're built on the same chassis.

If you go to the Northwood owners forum (Arctic Fox is made by Northwood) you'll quickly learn that more than a few people from the east order their trailer from Thunder RV in LaGrand, Oregon and drive out and pick their trailer up right there. Then they spend a night or two at Eagles Hot Lake RV Park (just down the road from the Northwood factory). They also get a factory tour while they're there.

To answer your question, there are probably other builders that build a 27' 5th wheel. However, I think you'll be hard pressed to find one that's built to the same standards and quality.

**EDIT** Not until I just posted the above did I realize that not only have I posted in this thread before but it's the thread just before this one. OK, I'm laughing at my own absent mindedness.:S

Northwood Mfg. (makes the Arctic Fox) also makes another 5th wheel that's just a bit lighter but still an all seasons trailer (thermal pane windows, enclosed underbelly, heated holding tanks, added insulation, plumbing ran through heated space, etc.), the Fox Mountain 5th wheel line.

You can do a google search for their owner's forums for more reviews and possible used trailers for sale....Northwood RV forums.

We have a 2013 Arctic Fox 27-5L and I would suggest that your tow vehicle should be in the F350/3500 diesel class. The 2013 models are heavy.

Here in Canada there are many Arttic Foxes and they definitely are a good and well respect unit. Nash is the lower line of Arctic Fox but not sure of there availability in your area.

Bogart and John, thanks so much for the suggestions. We will look into the Greystone and Jayco Eagle. Have dealers near us. Don't know how we missed those. Could have been that we were looking at trailers at the time and forgot to go back and check there for Fifth Wheels.
