Lower skirt/panel damaged

We had an unfortunate encounter with a light pole surrounded by concrete while we were tailgating last fall. It damaged the left lower skirt/panel on our 5er. Ours is made out of a metal, or aluminum. Since our brand (Alpenlite)in no longer in business, any suggestions on getting this repair done?

Yup, but before the paint on aluminum you're going to need a proper prep and priming. You can go with zinc chromate after an Alumiprep wash - old school and works - or Alumiprep scrub the Alodine followed by an epoxy primer. Personally, I don't like the bargain basement prep a lot of painters do with an Alumiprep scrub (using Scotchbrite pad) and a "wash primer".

  • I've used these folks twice and they did a pretty fair job making a replacement. It was a pretty straightforward job replacing it. The old screw holes didn't line up and I just drilled new ones.

  • Any body shop should work.. I think the panel is just sheet aluminum. If it were me, I'd go to RVsforless. Tiny little place but they've done great work for me.
