Why the Trojan battery are so expensive?- Coach-manExplorer

Supposedly, they have more plates and use thicker plates. The case is also larger, so that more sediment can collect before shorting out a cell. This adds up to more amperage, and longer life. Supposedly! I purchased 4 Trojans for my class A, which was equipped with a solar trickle charger. The Trojans lasted one year! I replaced them with 4 off brand cheap batteries which were going strong four years later! - buc1980ExplorerWhy the Trojan battery are so expensive?
- 2oldmanExplorer IIOP is not answering any questions and not reading links.
- VeebyesExplorer IIAGM is not a brand. It is a battery technology. Developed for the aviation industry, AGMs are sealed. They do not gas. They do not leak. They can be mounted anywhere. They can be mounted any way. Upside down if you like. They are used extensively in marine applications where there is a hazard from flamable heavier than air battery gases settliing in bilges.
Not so popular in the RV industry. They are expensive, though they last 2-3 times longer than a wet cell. They can be found in some upmarket units for owners less likely to want to deal with routine battery waterings. - pianotunaNomad III2oldman,
I think he means AGM - 2oldmanExplorer II

I've never heard of the amg brand.
What the best deep cycle battery for FW brand, amg or what. - What is best to you? Size, longevity, price, charging speed, available local, low maintenance?
You can hit a few but not everything. - VeebyesExplorer IIYup, depends on lost of things. Cheapest is not necessarily the best.
A single 4D AGM here. Our habits take us dry camping from time to time. Like the convenience of a no maintenance battery. Also like the simplicity of only 2 terminals to clean maybe once every couple of years. Like the longevity on an AGM. No wondering when the battery is going to give out after only a few years. Yes, it was very expensive but I am in my 7th season with it & expect another 2 seasons for sure. - 2oldmanExplorer II

All these would lead to the proper battery you are looking for.
"Best" questions can almost always be construed as the 'proper' thing for the OP.
