I have had several Toy Haulers but this is the first that has a drop down electric bed in the garage. The bed has locking pins about 24" down from the sealing where the bed will come to rest on the pins if they are not removed. This is the only place where there are holes for the pins. With the pins removed the bed can be lowered all the way down to where it would almost sit on the folded down couches. What is the purpose of the pins? Can't you sleep on the bed at any point along the track?Thanks

There should be holes near the top so when you lower the bottom bunk, the top bed does not move at all. It stays hugged to the ceiling.

I think there is a problem with the setup of the beds. I have had 3 TH's with the Happijac system and when lowering the beds, the top one only goes down a foot or two from the top location to a stop. Then the lower bench seats/bed continue to lower to the bottom stop. In my case, we do not use the top bed, so I have the locking pins in the upper holes so that the top bed does not lower.

inside the track will have a stop for the top bed, mid way down or so...if you have a 2 bed system. If you have 2 beds and the top bed comes all the way down its missing the stop brackets.the pins are to pin the top bed and allow only the bottom to go up and down, the bottom will go all the way to bottom of trackthe bottom is the lifting bed they do not work independent

As others have stated, the locking pins should be at the top holding the bed in position so it cannot contact the chain and lower. On ours, when the pins are pulled, both beds lower but when it stops the the upper bed is spaced about 3 feet above the lower bed. There is a ladder for folks to get into the upper bed.

Yup, if the upper bunk is not pinned it will go down when switch is depressed to lower them. Top bunk should not lower beyond a certain point keeping enough clearance for unencumbered use of the bottom bunk. In our rig both bunks need to be at their stopping points to use for sleeping purposes.

I drilled additional holes for the pins about 18" from the full up position for the top bunk to rest. This allows for some additional storage on the top bunk for lighter things while we travel.

I called Lippert and they said you could stop it anywhere and sleep on it. We have done it a few times, as it won't lower to the stops when my motorcycles are in there.

They sent me the manual, which says:

Limit switches are used to stop the
bed(s) at their maximum travel range.
However, the bed(s) can be stopped and
used at any desired height. Once the
control switch is released, the brake sets
securing the bed(s) in that position.

The pins are on all four corners. I will be drilling more holes about every 12"

I was going to suggest that. Mine has other holes I've used before.

I don't think so, the bed will stop on the pins if they are not removed just above the windows. Maybe they do this because this close to the location the couches would be if they were folded up and stored against the wall.

If the couches are laying flat the bed will come all the way down and stop at the bottom. So, I guess if the bed is not supposed to used unless its supported these are the two locations where the bed can be used?
