Noisy slide out

I lubed the drive shaft today. It did quiet it down somewhat. My next outing I will do the rubber seals with baby powder.

Hi Bill,
Mostly what I seem to see is that the baby powder just "goes away". After a few months, there seems to be none remaining. To be honest, when applying it, there is darn little that is sticking to the seals. I just use an old sock to apply.....pull the sock onto my hand, sprinkle a little powder on it, and start rubbing the seals.

When I bought the camper, the dealer sold me an aerosol can of "Thetford slide rubber lube". I tried it a couple of times, but didn't really like it....it seemed to attract dirt, so it sits on the shelf in the garage.

Thanks Lyle. My dealer explained not to lube the rack or pinion gear teeth when we picked up our trailer. He told me about a customer that lubed theirs and it seized up over time because of the dirt buildup. I will be very careful to only lube the shaft.

Thanks Lyle. My dealer explained not to lube the rack or pinion gear teeth when we picked up our trailer. He told me about a customer that lubed theirs and it seized up over time because of the dirt buildup. I will be very careful to only lube the shaft.

Thanks everyone. I already lubed the gears and rails with dry lube. I will lube the gear pack as per the manual the next time out and report back. Our 5th wheel is at the storage facility now.
