On the hunt for a better propane detector

:B I am so sorry but I am laughing and bringing tears to my eyes. Our TT is not here or I would go and see what brand ours is. It certainly has passed the test with my hubby, LOL

I got so concerned that I installed a second unit in a slightly different location. The only time I get excited is when both units go off at the same time...

Since propane is a common propellant used in spray cans, and flatulence from all sources human and animal contains methane, a flammable gas that you certainly wouldn't want to accumulate in an enclosed space, I doubt such a thing exists.

I think your propane detector is trying to tell you something, Matt. :B

Be careful what you wish for. Ours was only about 1 year old and somehow the stove got turned on. I think when I was leaving rv and throwing jacket on at the same time. Anyways when I open door about an hour later the propane smell was pretty heavy and detector was NOT going off. Made me wonder if it was working right. Performed test per instructions and tested OK. I can't seem to find one with a sensitivity dial.

Yeah, we had a near miss with a 100lb cylinder that was overfilled by a dumbass tank jockey (above 40lbs doesn't have an OPD) and it had created a propane lake around the trailer, and you could smell it inside, but the alarm didn't go off.

But, shoot a lysol can twenty feet away for a split second and it'll go off like clock work.

When heartland built the trailer, they located it vertically below the bathroom, so, any accumulate human gas leaks down the stairs and sets it off.

As a fellow Oregonian, this fits the category of "Keep Portland Weird". ;)

Aye, thankfully, we live across the county line and are just out of the reach of Portlandia :p.

Mine was original 2005 vintage. I decided to use my propane torch to test it. I did not light the torch only let the gas escape. The first time I just let out a little gas near the alarm and nothing happened. After several more attempts I gave it a good dose of gas and nothing. I could definitely could smell it. Needless to say that LP alarm is gone and a new one installed. I went with the same brand as what was installed.
