The way I figure it, if there's a fire, the rubber hoses will become compromised and the opd overflow valve will be applied.
No, it won’t. That’s what the excess flow check valve does that is part of the new style pigtails with the green Acme nut. It prevents unrestricted flow of LP in case the hose is broken. The OPD only prevents overfilling the cylinder. The thermal bushing in the Acme nut, when it melts in a fire, allows the pigtail fitting to back out of the valve on the cylinder (it’s spring loaded) closing off the flow.

I believe it's just a single stage regulator. The key for me is not to restrict the flow of propane, as much as possible anyway.
The reason I asked is because it was my understanding that a dual stage regulator was required on RV’s. Yours may very well be. Like I said, I’m not familiar with that brand. But, what’s OK to do on stationary LP systems (like on a mobile home) isn’t always OK for an RV system. If the green Acme nut (200,000 btu) was not allowing enough LP to flow for you, you could switch to pigtails with a red Acme nut, which can flow up to 400,000 btu.
