PVC vs EPDM roof for 5er

First, I sure love this forum. Have received great feedback on many questions.
Now, I have a guestion on roofs. My Cedar Creek roof needs replacing and the local RV shop suggested a new PVC roof. They did mention that in the beginning the manufacture had a problem with pin holes, the shop claims the problem has been fixed.
Has anybody out there in the RV world has had any issues good or bad on the PVC roof?

You should have a 12 yr warranty with any roof product. If they install it correctly then it should be good for a minimum of 12 yrs. Do you plan to keep the 5'er longer?

Great selling point, but the warranty is about worthless. The stuff is fairly cheap and of course the warranty is pro-rated. Installation is not included. After 5 years you not recover enough to pay to have it taken off.
I am talking about the EPDM. Don't know about the others.

I have work in the plastics industry some 40 years and have worked with pvc, epdm and tpo. and these are general terminologies. just off the top I would not go with pvc as a general statement !!! the tpo I currently use at work is great for the application (residential roof products) but remember this all above are formulated differently for every application. IE the pvc your talking about is not the same as pvc pipe. and then they do have the outdoor pvc pipe (heavy UV stabilizer's. if it was designed for the RV roof application which ever you choose it should be OK, cost does matter in plastics if your paying more it most likely has more additives in it for the application. look at warranty, care procedures and how the install shop services are. just my thoughts. one of the worst rubbers for outdoors is butadiene rubber products. so stay away from it, I doubt any rv roofing stuff would have it.

Lot's of good information on the link but EPDM by nature when manufactured is not black. It is a white slightly opaque color. Carbon black is added to many rubber products as a reinforcing filler and UV absorbent.

Our church has about 14,000 square feet roof made by Duralast in the link posted and was touted to reduce our utility bills considerably but only reduced it slightly. It was custom made based upon measured dimensions and installed over 1/2" foam sheeting. Much of the sheeting was welded at the factory and that is an advantage as it is better controlled. All seams at the on site installation was hot air welded. I believe that at this point we have a very good roof and better than TPO or EPDM but if I was replacing the roof on my camper I would not necessarily eliminate EPDM. I would not use a TPO roof.

Put a PVC replacement roof on our older TT. It was great! held up well and no streaking. If I ever have the opportunity to use that product on an RV rig again I will definilty choose it as the roof of choice for us.

I have only had my unit for 4 months so I cannot attest to the durability of the PVC roof. But it is noteworthy that the Open Range line of RVs have the PVC roof as standard. You might want to look at this information. There are some very good points about the PVC roof. It seems as if they have used this material on buildings for some time.
