Roof Insulation

I'm looking for a New Fifth wheel and a see two main types of insulation in the roofs, R values are close. One is the block styroform with foil and the other is your typical fiber glass with foil. Looking for your real world experiences with either or both of these types of insulation.

Over the coarse of years does one hold up better that the other with the beating of the roads?

Can you tell a difference from the interior?

Any input is greatly appreciated as I'm doing my research for my first Fifth wheel in the spring.

Thanks
  • of course any water leak and the fiberglass would be history.

  • The compressing is what I was thinking would also happen over time. One of the reasons I'm thinking of trying the block foam insulation. Hopefully I won't regret it if I ever have to get into the ceiling.
  • I have noticed that the fiberglass batts in my attic tend to compress/settle a bit over the years. that would reduce the air pockets and tend to lessen insulation properties. unless the styrofoam blocks are tight, there could be air pockets between them.
