Roof replacement?

I have a 1995 29ft Carriage Lite 5th wheel. It still has original rubber roof. It does not leak. What should I replace the roof with? Can I put the liquid bed liner on the roof?
  • Two options:
    - If there are no imminent signs of failure, keep sealing it but otherwise leave it alone.
    - If there are imminent signs of failure, sell it and buy a newer unit. Assuming you get $3-4k out of it and you put the $4-6k you were going to spend on a new roof, that gives you a budget of $7-10k which based on recent used prices should move you up to somewhere around a 2005 unit of similar size.

Options - which are going to run $7-$9k retail are TPO or EPDM material - and may require new wood on top.

You can also do RVarmor - which is reported to cost substantially less:

    Or a truck-bed like coating.

RVArmor is not cheap. Got a quote for my flat-roof 29' FW and it =started= at 6k. They remove =everything= off the roof, strip it down to wood, fix whatever needs fixing, coat it, then reinstall all the vents, skylights and AC. That number is more than half it's current NADA value, so I politely declined.
