I have a question about my roof top a.c. l have my camper parked and set up at a site with about 35 others. And when it really hot and everyoneIs running their AC some of the campers Air conditioners trips out that's because the wiring is old in the park what I was wondering they habit extra hours campsite beside me that no one is using is there any way I can hook up my rooftop air conditioner straight to that of the site Using a heavy duty extension cord
I'd be willing to bet that when the voltage drops enough to start tripping A/C units, the =entire= park's voltage drops, so plugging in to an unused pedestal likely won't help you. I think I'd check the next pedestal over, and any other unused pedestals, when voltage starts dropping. Only solution I can think of is a voltage boost transformer, as has already been mentioned. IIRC, they give about a 10% voltage boost, so if voltage is below about 98v, they'd still only give you marginal voltage. From what I've read over the years, an A/C wants about 105v, minimum, to run without damage. Were it me, I'd be hammering the park owners to upgrade, or I'd move, if at all possible.
