Slideout flexes and deforms when retracted

Hey folks,

We have a relatively new to us 2004 wilderness 255BHS. It has a drivers side that has the table and couch in it. When retracting the slide it seems like the bottom makes contact 1st and then it pulls the top into contact before the motors stops. This causes the middle bench for the table to flex where it attaches to the wall of the slide and it has pulled that wallboard off a bit because it is right on a seem for the wallboards. Anybody run into this before and any suggestions on how to fix? When the slide is out the wallboard is much less deformed.
  • When mine started doing that I found that the shear bolt had broken on one side. One end of the bolt was still in the shaft but the nut end was missing. This allowed the shaft to turn independently of the gear on that side just a few degree's and cause the slide to retract as you describe.
  • sfpcservice, the slide on my Wilderness operates the same way, bottom contacts first, top last, just made that way. The slide actually drops slightly on extension to level up the floors.

Never noticed any problems. Yours might need adjusted, I got manuals off the Powergear website: Powergear
  • Sounds like some adjustment is needed for the retracting mechanicals or the stop switch. I had to adjust the stop switch beacuse the motor continued to run eventhough the slide had fully retracted. It was beginning to damage the wall around the slide opening.
