Suggested Retail Price

We have had a DP for the past 10 years, and now planning on making a change to a toy hauler. Can somebody give me insight into what is a resonable about to take off Suggested Retail Price. In the class a market, you usually wound up between 25 - 28%.
  • The MSRP (Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price) is actually set by the manufacturer and means just what it implies -- a The MSRP (Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price)

If you want to get a feel for the market email dealers across the US that make you model ask for the Out The door price tell them you'll be paying in cash. let us know what you come up with.

I did this and I was willing to drive from CA-AZ but the CA dealer gave me the AZ price and I saved $4.500 doing this.

Remember: implies -- a "suggested" price
  • We just bought our 2016 XLR 395AMP in May. We ordered it from a wholesale dealer not far from the XLR factory, so they don't tack on any delivery or PDI fees. Our unit came in with an MSRP of a little over $99k and we paid $61,500 (plus tax of course). So we got roughly 38% off our ordered unit.

Our unit was originally supposed to have a $95,500 MSRP, but the factory accidentally built it with the extreme weather package that I didn't want. The dealer held true to our original deal and didn't charge us any more for the mistake. I'm sure they probably worked something out with XLR and didn't have to eat the extra cost though.
  • Agree with Don. 30-35% off once you've figured out a realistic MSRP - and it can vary by region.
  • You first have to determine what exactly retail price is? Since unlike the auto industry RV mfgs do not post a MSRP price sticker on new vehicles the retail price can be anything a dealer wants it to be. Now, let the games begin! Once you find what you think you want, start hy offering 50% of their starting price. Be prepared to walk out several times. Ending up around 35% off their original asking price seems pretty reasonable unless their starting price was unrealistic to begin with.
