tires (again)

Wow. You got a lot of use out of your China made tires - 6 years? You didn't mention any problems so i can only assume you didn't.

had 1 self destruct last year,just had one blow ouit last week . lucky only was going about 40 mph this time no damage. 1st tire went slowly also.

Michelin LTX m\s2 have a soft sidewall compared to their commercial grade counterpart the Michelin RIBS. They are a good SUV tire, but you might want to check out something different for your trailer.

The LTX M&S 2 also has to much siping and open shoulder ribs to be consider a good trailer tire. You can get Bridgestone Duravis R250's for about the same price and have a steel ply carcass commercial grade tire similar to the XPS RIB. Chris

Ya, M&S (mud and snow) are usually not a good choice for trailers

I suspect your trailer has 5200# GAWRs.

Nice write up FE....I had the Michelin XPS RIBS on a 5er that had a GVW of 14,000#, loaded to a little over 13,000# and a Pin weight of 2500#....Those tires were on that Coachman Somerset three slide 5er longer than "I" would have kept them on there and I towed all through the mountains of NC,SC,TN,Va and WV for a couple of years...a very good friend of mine bought the 5er when I got he one in my sig. He towed out west and put a PILE of miles on those RIBS and had them for over 6 yrs when "I" recommended he should get some new ones..he did and purchased four more Ribs...experience speaks volumes...

I would highly recommend an XPS RIB, or the tire that Me Again mentioned. I recommend the right tire be used in the right application and for the OP's 5r, the "E" rated RIBs along with several others would work great for him.

To the OP, I too wouldn't recommend using the Michelin LTX M&S tire either.

I realize you may not be a tire dealer/expert, but my 5er came with MS/LT type Tacoma tires as OEM and have lasted very well and are almost 10 years old. No blow outs, tread separation,side wall cracking or uneven wear. Oh and before someones says I should replace then this instant they will get replaced in the next 2 months. Thanks for your opinion. JMHO.

When Michelin recalled the Uniroyal HD-H and BFG Commercials last years they offered the LTX MS2 as replacement tires for customers with them on their trailers.

Those folks that have them on their trailers seem to like them. Make sure the LT E have enough capacity for your trailers axle capacities.
