Trailer Covers

No issue with water collecting at the awning. Some condensation with temp changes but not enough to be a concern.

Truthfully, the reason I cover it is I want it at home so I can tinker with things. Cheaper and closer than commercial covered storage. One perk I noticed is leaves and sticks don't seem to collect on the roof anymore...they must blow off easier than the EPDM.

We can get very strong winds in Lynden (60+) but the past two years have been relatively mild. I did have to put a Styrofoam pipe insulation on the outside part of the ladder...it was wearing small holes in the cover at each rung. The cover has not gotten dirty or moldy and seems to be holding up OK.

Its a little cumbersome to put on and take off but I can do it by myself. The cover weighs nearly 50 lbs. I tie a rope around it and pull it up to the rv roof. Watching THIS video really helped me find a "method."

I had the cheaper (non Designer) Adco cover on my last fifth wheel last winter and found that where the side of the cover contacted the awning caused a ton of water to wick through and down the side of the trailer. I also found that there was a lot of condensation on the trailer after a heavy rain, although it did seem to disappear relatively quickly. How has your experience been with the Designer cover in regards to this? We now have a larger fifth wheel and I'm trying to decide whether I should go the cover route again for the winter or look for indoor storage. Thanks.

I've talked to several about covers including service man in Amarillo. He said no. Not only will the wind tear up the cover, but will wear the finish down. A man parked by us here in Colorado, and said his experience was not good. The wind got it. A lot of you are in Wa. which evidently does not have all the wind. Tulsa in windy. I would not do the cover.

Here in AZ, for the most part, our soils are so damn abrasive that it will eat up your FW and the rub spots on the cover in short order. After you go through several covers, you've got the cost of a steel building to park in, so why not put up the building from the get-go?

Count me in the growing number of folks that have tried and given up on the cover. I used it for two years, and still have a few rub marks on the trailer to prove it.

My 5er now lives in the garage. But if it didn't it would sit naked out side. No more covers for me.

I have a Calmark cover. Am happy with it and it fits like a glove as the custom build each one to your specs.

IMHO: RV covers are manufactured and sold for only one specific purpose...to entertain those of us watching the poor slob that bought one trying to cover his RV.

We have an Adco sunbrella cover for our 36 foot 5th wheel. We live in southern Arizona so lots of sun. Have covered for 6 years without any problems from wind. 5th wheel looks like new. We travel usually every 6 weeks so on and off a lot. Have to pad certain areas before covering. Putting on and taking off is easy after you learn how. We did have zippers put in each rear corner to ease taking off.
