Hi All,Hi All. I posted this on the Forum specific top my trailer (Opern Range Owners Forum) then figured I would get broader input here. I have been searching for a truck bed cover that would work while 5th wheeling. Here were my requirements. 1) Need cover to be able to stay on truck when towing 5th wheel (rolled up just behind the cab). When we are camping, we tour around lots and I really wanted to have the cover for items in the bed. With our current tri-fold cover, I take it off when towing and leave it at home. 2) Needed to allow easy access to the tool box that sits in front of the 5th wheel hitch (just behind the cab). 3) Do not want the rails to raise the height of the bed's side walls (or at least raise them very little). The rails for some covers sit on top of the sidewalls and appear to increase rail height by several inches. 4) Needed to have a lifetime warranty5) Needed to be less than $500...(this ruled out the hard top rolling kind)I currently have one of those tri-fold cloth ones. It is really nice and works well but does not allow easy access to the tool box. Every person I know with the fabric type of tonneau has had to replace them at least once so two of those equal one Retrax plus if you leave the stock locking gate on your truck the Retrax also locks which will keep your stuff inside and the riff-raff out. Sometimes you really do get what you pay for, oh and the Retrax warranty is the best, they replaced my 6 year old tonneau for the price of shipping!

That Truxedo Deuce looks like just what you need. They do make a good product. However, One thing to be aware of, is to watch out for those inside bed rails. When you make a sharp turn with a 5'r pin box, the rear edge of the pin box, might tear those rails up.That is why I stick with my tri-fold. And I take it with me when we travel. It travels in the trailer, with no problems. Incidentally, mine is also the cloth (over Vinyl) version. Had it for two years and it looks as good as new. Everything in the bed stays dry. Lock my tailgate to help with security.

I bought my two fold tonneau cover in 2009 and it is due to be replaced.It doesn't cover around the corners anymore. This time I am going with Retrax.

I had a Truxedo Truxport previously, which was essentially the same thing but did not have the open from the front feature. I was generally happy with it, but wanted some of the bed covered while towing. I got a Tonno Pro trifold, which accomplishes that purpose but yes, it is a bit of a pain to get things out of the very front.

Any soft cover failure is directly due to lack of maintenance. All you need to do is wipe it down with RV/Marine vinyl protectant twice per year and it won't shrink or turn brittle. All Ive had on any of my trucks is an Access rollup and this has worked for me.As for the Deuce, very nice! I think it would be perfect for what you need.

Have seriously considered a cover but cannot justify...for our situation.

When we get to wherever we are going whether it a short stay or extended whatever we have in the box comes out because we use those things. The only thing left is the 5th wheel hitch and that is locked in.

So when we go 'exploring' the bed is empty of anything that could disappear.

Weather...Snow??

Not a problem as we will be in the warm temps.

It was used for my Cougar XLite 28SGS for 8,ooo miles last summer and now will be used for a 2014 Montana High Country 318RES. The RAM 2500 has a locking rear tailgate, so the cover is locked at the back. It folds back in the front for access, but cannot be lifted past that section. Numerous roll ups and roll backs show no wear. I am extremely pleased with this cover.

On another forum I frequent, a couple of folks have a Bakflip and two have said that when backing at sharp angles in uneven campgrounds the front of the 5th wheel impacted the folded backflip. One gent had it happen several times causing damage to the bakflip....

Just got a Truxedo Lopro a couple months ago but I wish I would have known about the Deuce. What a nice idea. I hope you will get a lot of use out of it.

I have the Bakflip 2 installed on my truck, it has several sections the flip out of the way to expose the hitch while towing plus acts as a secure top when i'm not towing.

ust finished putting the Truxedo Duece 2 on the truck. Wow, for $328 ($378 minus $50 rebate) delivered this is one nice piece of equipment. Very, very high quality. Here is a link to how it works:

Prior to install did some tight backup turn tests and made measurements (90 degrees) to assure the pinbox would not hit the tonneau rails. The tonneau rails ride on the inside of the bed sidewalls. Turns out there was plenty of clearance. It actually cleared by lots. I think it cleared by so much because of my unique situation:

1) I have a 2WD truck(lower than 4WD)
2) I have an F250 (lower than 350)
3) The automatic slider actually moves an inch or two to the opposite side bed as the trailer swings around. Probably did not explain that too well.
4) The Tri-Glide air ride pinbox raises the front of the 5th wheel about an inch and a half (as opposed to the standard pinbox it replaced)

I only list the above as a caution. If you decide to use a similar cover, make sure on tight turns the pinbox will not hit the tonneau rail.

Looks like this one will really serve my purposes well...

I have an Extang Trifold also that I leave on the truck. So far no clearence issues.

I have a Lund low profile that stays beside the rails not over the rails. It clears my toolbox and hitch and leaves room for my backrack with the 1" tonneu risers but those are only under the backrack mounts, not the full rail. I have zero clearance issues.
