We are seriously considering a fifth wheel, just curious, has anyone regretted moving to a fifth wheel from travel trailer?

Several factors I like better with a 5er: ZERO sway even when a semi blows by, ceiling height, time it takes to hitch up, & I like going "upstairs" to go to bed...just like home:p

There is a reason people usually say "we just moved up to a fifth wheel" !

I promise you will wish you had done it sooner. No comparison towing.

This is our first 5th.Wheel from Travel Trailers and we are happy with the change. I love how it handles and the stability it seems to have over the TT. Just like with a TT, do not cut yourself short when purchasing a good 5th. Wheel Hitch. I was sort of taken back at first with backing it :R . I had it in my mind that it would much easier to back a 5th Wheel but for me it was not easier. I had to get some practice in but I think I have about got it down now. ๐Ÿ™‚ also be aware of the extra height.

I just bought my 5er 2 months ago. So far I really like the 5er better, space, ease of towing. I also think you can hook-up the 5er quicker than a TT. It did take a while to get the hang of backing it up, 5th wheels turn slower than travel trailers. I watched some video on you tube on how they react compared to trailers.

The steps are a little rougher for people our age but we like it better.

@ B.O....steps is what I think about as I get older, I think that might be my biggest issue. Husband says I worry too much!

Thanks...I love the underneath storage I gain...as far as inside..not losing there either ( since I told my husband, I would not give up anything on the inside..had to have lots of cabinets, had to have hide a bed,rocker/recliners, had to have booth dinette, which has been the hardest to find)...most fifth wheels has table and chairs...we actually have two floor plans picked out ( one just like my travel trailer and the other basically the same, just reversed ), just waiting on and 2011 or 2012 to show up somewhere for sale...as far as the brand, well that is never a discussion..It has to be a Jayco!

As I get older I don't like the climbing more steps to get inside and the climbing more steps again to use the bathroom or bedroom. If I was younger and my knees worked better it wouldn't be a big deal. It does tow better. Some of the newest TTs have triple slide floor plans similar to 5th wheels. With a Hensley or Pro-Pride hitch they might be a workable alternative.

No regrets. Pulls so much nicer, easier to hook up, more storage underneath, taller ceilings, ...

I made the move over a decade ago, and I've never regretted it. I think the only thing I missed was the storage in the bed of the truck that I lost. I used to have a camper shell on the back of my truck, and I could store things like bikes in the back.

Not so much room now. But the stability and convenience were what I was really looking for anyway.
