Unknown Winegard satellite antenna

I found a Winegard satellite dish on the roof of the RV I'm purchasing.

It likely was put up in 2012 or 2013 when the coach was built.

Is it going to be a standard definition dish? I heard Directv was going to cease SD broadcasts in 2019.

Which services will it work with? Directv / Dish / something else?

There is no receiver so I'll have to buy one. If the antenna is only SD then I'll just do without.

If I have to buy a receiver is it worth it to try and use the old dish or should I just replace it?
  • Is there a control box inside?
2012 or 13 if it is automatic open faced be a Travler SK-SWM. If so it is a HD antenna. You need to look near or behind the main TV and see if there is a control box, marked Winegard, and if there is a power supply and splitter. If so you have the latest. If not, its still possible someone stripped all of the stuff out. Then your going to have to go up on the roof and look for the lable plate to identify what it is.
  • Is it a little dome type? The owners should have left the manuals with it. If it is the RoadMAte, it has dip switches under the dome that can be set for Dish or Direct. Dish would be HD. With Direct, none of the small automatic antennas will receive HD. With Direct, you need the Wineguard Travler or a home type dish.

Go to the Wineguard website for manuals.

  • I need to look thru the bag-o-manuals that's in the RV.

Looks like we have about 4-5 days of rain ahead of us here in the FL panhandle.

Tropical Storm Alberto is coming, y'all.

It is the little dome type. About the size of a basketball.
  • No dome will get Directv HD.

    It might get DISH HD.

You can get DISH HD on small carry out domes.

    Need a model number.
