Upgrading suspension on Jayco Designer

I did this on my 2003 Jayco Designer. When I bought the unit(used) the previous owner supplied all the original documentation. One of the manuals was from Dexter so I ordered all the parts from them. They are quite helpful on the phone. Price for parts was reasonable. I had a new set of springs built by Eaton Detroit and installed new shocks. The trailer pulls and rides very well now.

I 100% agree with this, I had a wet bolt kit installed on mine along with some other stuff and its pretty heavy duty work IMO.

Chances of you getting bad info from an internet site - (with lots of well meaning, informed? folks) -vs- the mfgr.......would be worth at least a comparison *test*.

And *if* you were having it done by a shop - better *they* error and order the wrong kit than you!

You will lose time either way - but not *your* job to get the correct parts for the job...:W

Personally, we deal with a good, local, trailer shop, and they quoted me a very fair price for the job, including the correct kit. I still have good knees, but my DIY projects usually end up costing a =lot= more than if I'd had someone do it right from the get-go. I ended up not doing it, as I put my FW up for sale shortly after.

On my prior fifth wheel I changed to the MorRyde HD Shackles and Wet Bolt kit myself..

I would say that If I had bad knees , I would have never been able to do that job myself... let someone do it for you... Some things just are not worth trying

I'm planning on having someone do it for me. I wanted to order the kit and have it ready for them.

Having replaced my entire Carriage suspension after a breakdown, it isn't hard...unless you have bad knees. I suggest you have someone do it.

Yeah, it's not a job for someone with bad knees.
