Hi, I've been reading a lot of the posts on this forum and there is a lot of good information here. We just got our first trailer and will do light duty camping for 2 with it. We have an antique 1985 Itasca class-C that has served us well - still runs well and everything works. I do all my own maintenance/repairs/upgrades. Replaced the fridge (taller one), the A/C & the power converter. The full size bed and water closet toilet just won't do anymore. We got this WW FB2100 from the original owner and it's in great shape. However, it still has the original Transmaster ST225/75R15 D 2007 tires on it. It is registered as a 2009, was purchased in Sept 2008 and I'm guessing the chassis was built in 2007, thus the tires. Drove it home slow & careful. I'm looking at the Maxxis load range E tires - $135/ea at Discount Tire Direct. The trailer came with a weight distribution hitch. It is the style with square tube tension arms that sit on an L bracket. It grunts/groans in turns, but is fine when pulling straight. I'm guessing the square tubes are rubbing the brackets. There are rubber pads on the L brackets. It seems to me the solid round tension bars with chains style might not make all that grunting/groaning.

Congrats on the new to you hauler. Maxxis is definitely your best choice if your staying with ST tires. I run them on my 3018 Raptor. As for the grunting and groaning it sounds like the hitch is a combo weight distribution with built in anti-sway. The noise is probably normal. I run the Reese dual cam set-up which is also noisy around turns. Good luck with the new ride.

upgrade to LT tires, you will not be sorry.

Shouldn't need LT tires on that light of a trailer. I have been running ST's on my FK1900 for severn years and never had a single blowout. LT's are overkill for that size trailer IMO and he would also have to go to 16" rims. Lots of $$$. Stick with STs and you'll be fine. MAxxis is a good choice for ST tires.These trailers are known for having one major issue and that is sagging outriggers that cause the side walls to droop. YOu can check if yours is affected by inspecting the wheel wells from the inside of the trailer. If they are still square to the side wall you are OK but if they are starting to lean in and separate from the wall, then the wall is sagging and you'll want to address it before it gets worse.As for your noisy hitch setup it likely just needs some grease on the pivot points.

We replaced our Transmasters with the MAXXIS LS E Rated tire and have had them for approx 2.5 years now. We go out several times and year and load out trailer with almost max weight and no problems.Also check the tongue on your trailer and see how thick it is. WW had issue's with thin tongues that were 1/8" on the SL's and replaced them with 3/16" thick steel tongues. The 1/8" were actually bending up substantially over time.Not sure about the SL's having sides that fail but when we took ours in after the first year for some small items to get fixed they actully did add some additional outrigger bracing to the outside of our frame an dto the trailer and one small piece of tube steel joining to cross members on the underside of our trailer. I noticed it when we picked it up from the maitenance work because the frame had new paint on it. WW just did it, I never asked them to. After 8 years and many trips out, no problems to date with the frame or sides failing.Good luck and have fun with your new toy,,,,,,,, hauler. LOL.

I can't seem to duplicate the problem myself. Sometimes if you are quoting multiple people it gets crazy. If you have a chance to copy the test from a box or a screen cap it might help me to understand better what you're facing. The mods down in Forum Technical Support might have and idea, I'll see if I can flag one to look at this.

How many outriggers did they originally use?
The Transmaster tires have an "07" year code.
The new Maxxis tires I just got have "14" date codes.

I really don't know how many outriggers they originally had. It probably depended on the length of the trailer also.?
Alls I know is I haven't had any of the issues with the sides sagging.

Those maxxis E tires are a good tire and I don't think your going to have any issues at all.

It sounds like your tongue and frame will be good with the thicker steel and additional out riggers. It's an 09 so they must of upgraded from the previous years.

You can check the date on your Transmaster tires but I would go ahead and get the new ones for piece of mine.

If you hit "back", edit and then post it is actually a repost as the site has no idea you did the first post. Most websites are stateless and have no idea what you are doing from page to page. They could add "tokens" to more carefully watch what you do, and the token would basically say - "Hey, that's not allowed".

Thanks but I definitely used the "edit" button and did not go "back" and edit my original page. Happened to me more than once this week.

I believe the tongue metal was beefed up in 2007. Yes those are the outriggers. How do your inner wheel wells look? Are they square or leaning towards the wall?

The center of the C-channel is 3/16".
By "outrigger" do you mean the triangular pieces of steel welded to the frame that go out to the bottom of the sides? There are 4 in front of the wheels and 2 behind.

I read thru the WW Repairs Sticky and if I recall there's a pic with the 2 different thickness 4" box tubing used for the tongue. Or maybe that was in an article about the lawsuit. Anyway, our Superlite has a U-channel tongue 5" x 1 1/2".

Noticed something odd, the roof vent over the shower opens forward. If it was left open while driving it would be ripped off by the wind. I've ordered vent covers for all the vents. I'm guessing that vent was installed backwards and it looks easy to turn around.

Most of the SL's had C-Channel steel tongues. Just check the thickness and confirm if has 1/8" thick. You may want to see if it is bending up and all. You might be able to just site it. If it's 3/16 you should be good.

Then I would just check out the outriggers to see how many you have on both sides.

If they sides haven't buckled yet you may be good.

Definitely turn the vent around.
