- john_betExplorer IIDealer installed mine the day we picked the 5er up. It was part of the deal. Not a big issue with us.

In my experience RV dealers tend to be high priced and not very knowledgeable on hitch installs. That may sound odd since they sell trailers but it seems their experience with hitches is limited to low end hitches they may throw into the deal. Every RV dealer I've dealt with had no clue to the various types of hitches and whats needed to install for my particular TT and TV.
I found this same exact situation with our local Jayco dealer (Camping World). Having never owned a fifth wheel trailer before, I had a lot of questions about different types of hitches, pin boxes, etc. The salesman had no idea. Even when looking at the optional pin boxes Jayco offered on the trailer, he had heard of one, but had no idea what the other one was. I had to google it when I got home. - B_O__PlentyExplorer III used a shop that does trailer fab work and repairs. $350.00 to install bedrails using a truck specific mounting kit I supplied along with the rails. Thought that might be a little high but he did a great job.
B.O. - Fulltimer50ExplorerFord dealer did mine.

You're in Dairy Valley (AKA: Cerritos), so check for independent hitch installers in the industrial areas of:
Long Beach, Santa Fe Springs, Bellflower, Norwalk, etc.
Also Ekharts in WLA (been there for years and years)
Hitch Crafters in Costa Mesa would be another to check with.
Google is your friend - and will yield LOTS of choices for your *immediate* area.

I installed my B&W Turnover Ball and Companion myself and helped my brother do his. Only problem I had was getting up the nerve to actually cut that 4" hole in my bed! I made my brother do his so if he f'd it up, it was =his= fault. :-)
Lyle - ependydadExplorerI bought a B&W hitch and used their dealer locator to find a place to buy it and install it. I called 3 or 4 - one place wanted to haggle prices, one place was very expensive and the last one was just right.
- Miles_AwayExplorerSince this is in the 5th wheel section, I assume your looking for a fiver hitch. First select the make of hitch you prefer THAT MEETS YOUR SPECIFIC NEED. Contact the manufacture,or search them online, and ask them to identify dealers in your area. They will professionally install the hitch of your choice. I wouldn't recommend U-Haul as they generally don't sell or install in the bed style hitches.
- Georgew48ExplorerGood advice on looking at trailer dealers like the ones that sell horse/cargo trailers. Most of these shops have excellent hitch service. You could also buy a new Ford with the 5th wheel prep kit and then buy a B&W companion hitch. Takes about 5 minutes to install the hitch or remove it.LOL
- buckyExplorer IIA U-Haul store, but it must be a company owned store that deals with hitches. A body shop that does big truck and RV repairs is another thought. I put mine in, but I don't think I'll do that again. Blacktop doesn't agree with old bones.
