where to go.

Heading to Valdosta Georgia to see family for a week and curious to know what are some good campgrounds on the way there as well as in Valdosta or close. We may stop in between the drive and trying to plan our stops. Its a 19 hour drive. So I am looking for some nice overnight stays. We picked up a New FW and love it, pulls well stops Great. I appreciate all advice..
  • I will take the advice of following the KOA campgrounds for stop, camp and go the next morning. I appreciate all the advice,I have only 1 more question, would you recommend getting an auxilliary fuel tank and if so, which ones and how much do they run. I was thinking of a 35,or, 50 gallon one and still fit under the bedrails. Thanks!
  • If you decide to stay at Reed Bingham, you have to eat at the Catfish House, right outside the Park. Everything is fried, but it's all delicious and it's a truly family run business... Mom, dad, aunts, uncles & cousins greeting you and waiting on you. I expect there's family in the kitchen, too. We are generally health-conscious eaters, but trust me, it's an experience!
  • Reed Bingham State Park is really nice and they now have some sites with full hookups. It is located about 20 miles from Valdosta.
  • KOA in Manchester TN is about half way. We also like Two Rivers Campground in Nashville TN. In Chattanooga we liked Best Holiday Trav-L-Park.
  • If you are looking for somewhere to park for the night and keep moving the next day so you can reach your destination, you won't want to take the time to explore the area you stop at. You'll want to keep moving. If that is the case, then just plot out the KOA campgrounds along your route at KOA.COM to find the campground locations. They almost always have pull through camp sites with full hook-up. You don't even have to unhitch or put jacks down. Plug in shore power, run your water hose, and in the morning, dump your tanks and flush them out, and hit the road.

Now, if you're looking to stay a while at each of your stopping points, you can almost always never go wrong with State Parks, or State Recreation areas, or National forests.
  • Reed Bingham State Park at Adel, GA is close to Valdosta. Really nice State Park.
