In our 4 years of having a roof top satellite (DirecTv) we only had issues with trees maybe 2 times (we are full timers). We carried a portable dish with us during that time and never used it so we recently removed it. You usually have to give up those shaded sites but we recently stayed at a heavily treed campground and had just enough of a window to get the satellite tuned in. After years of using a portable, we love the convenience of a rooftop. One button to push and you are done. We ask for satellite friendly sites when making reservations.
