- JimboBillyBobExplorerI seem to remember reading in Ford's towing information that 5th wheel hitches were not recommended for the 5.5 bed. I towed a 7600# 5er with a 2010 F150 with the 6.5 bed and slider. Still managed to really mash up the rear pillar during a sharp turn. As posted earlier, I'd go for the 6.5 bed at least. BTW, you'd probably find a 6.2 F250 at a better price! That's the route I took.

The only concern I would see is the pin box hitting the Tailgate in the back position, just remember to drop the TG.
With a superglide hitch the only way for the hitch to be in the back position is during a turn. Sharper the turn, the more the hitch slides back which. Might help the issue. - SkyfarmerExplorerThanks to all, and Happy Easter
- My pullrite is working good over 10 years now.
BTW if still selecting a truck... get the max payload option.
Verify the F150 door displays the correct GVWR before you buy.
GVWR spec is available on the Ford website. Not just a tow package. - rhagfoExplorer III

??? It won't go into the back position unless it is turned sideways thus missing the tailgate entirely. That is how mine works. Although it is close when strait it never gets close enough to hit in a turn. Yes the pin box gets close to the siderails in a sharp turn but that has nothing to do with the slider but the pin box length.
:S
Caught! Yes I did forget that Superglide is a auto slider! :S - DSteiner51Explorer

- alexleblancExplorerIf you're dead set on an F150, you should go for the 6.5' bed model.
- 4huskersExplorerI had a Superglide in my '03 F150 shortbed. Worked fine.
