Well Shane and vanessa, There is no short story behind this. So I will just condense as much as possible. I am old and getting set in my ways! Didn't want a huge truck or really stiff sm one! For 95% of my driving (unloaded commuting etc etc ) New 2011 3/4 ton has stabilitrac and electronic trailer sway control, integrated trailer brake cont. integrated engine brake, larger rims (20") w/"E" rated goodyears. Denali version and 4x4 added weight - reduced tow/haul capacity "But I like every available option!! So I set mind to makeing it work "right and safely" 3/4 ton Truck is exact same as 1 ton minus a few suspension and brake parts, So I Added Firestone airbag's "Air assist bag springs" to truck. Custom disk brakes to trailer ( had to add tekonsha P-3 brake controller for new electric over hydraulic on trailer. Factory GMC controller wouldn't work w/them) Came out with same exact ride unloaded as stock 3/4 and added weight ability of 1 ton with more pressure in bags. Also have Trail Air, pin box air bag suspension and Pull rite super slider (automatic slider) with Blue Ox catch plate (BED SAVER) The truck is well above adequite and able to handle the load and do it safely and a Rolls Royce ride, ... With or without the trailer. The new DMax diesel is 397 HP with almost "800" ft lbs of torque!!!!!!! Would pull that thing straight "UP A TREE" if it had the traction!
Its a two finger drive in cruise control. The last consideration.... Yes I have more invested in this rig, than a lot of motorcoach's! But for us it's the right combination!! Ya just can't get that kind of space and lux in a traveling home AND have a truely great "TOAD vehicle"in a motorcoach till ra really hit the big, BIG $$$$$$$$ and even then they don't drive/handle/turn and back as well. Just my humble opinion
