I work from home and am doing so in our RV now. I can work anywhere so I go where the wind takes us. I'm growing very tired, very quickly, of working at the kitchen table and am looking to upgrade to a 5th wheel with more space and an area I can either put a small office or at least a fold down table that can be closed off from the main living area. My wife and two small dogs are with me and I want them to be able to stay in the living area separated from me.So far Redwood has a real nice option with the 38RB, it looks like they will even install a desk and cabinets back there if requested. We've also considered Toy Haulers with small garages that could easily be converted. This would also be ideal however most of them only have a mediocre kitchen and a big couch with a portable table for the living area. This just won't work. Lastly there are the units with the bunks. If that are is small enough it could be converted but I'm not interested in wasting a lot of space for an office (only have about 40' to work with after all) so I feel most bunk options take too much away from the rest of the coach.Seeing how we're just starting out looking for these I thought I'd query the group to see if they'd ever come across anything that might work. BTW, we're looking for new or very close to new for a variety of reasons.

JimTrue on both accounts, you left out expensive. We're wanting to keep this well under $100K and preferably in the 60-70 range after negotiations. For the most part our 16K rating should work for our price point and needs. Some of the Toy Haulers are rated to 18K with 5K of cargo, we'd never even come close to that cargo so I'm ok with those.

cedar creek has a new model with a rear room aeperate entrance with it sounda like what you want.

there is a recent thread by somebody who wanted to replace his lounge chair and desk with a J sofa. maybe work out some kind of a deal and put the chair/desk into yours.bumpy

This also reminds me that occasionally I've seen RV's with a small desk built into the bedroom, that would work nicely as well if anyone can recall one of those. I know the Viewfinder travel trailer had that but it's likely too small for us now.

Interesting on the IRS side. I hadn't even considered this point, usually have my home office in an actual house so have never needed to worry about the specifics. I've got a question into my accountant regarding this. We're going to go with the Redwood 38BR that has a separate "flex room" that they're building out as an office for me.

Fits all the IRS requirements for home office. Which means 25% of all my normal expenses could be written off if I want to.

Was at the dealer again today and did see the crossroads with the center bunks. Really liked it but felt it wouldn't hold up to us ultimately full-timing in it. Ended up ordering the Redwood 38BR and had them build in the desk and cabinets into the flex space. My wife fell in love with everything about these. We're pretty excited, only thing is we'll have to wait until the end of July for delivery (it was nearly built already).

We have a Nu Wa 339RSB...we picked this floorplan for its extra closet slide in the "hallway" between the bedroom and kitchen. We converted the closet (left the big drawers in place) into a craft work space with cabinets and a work table. My wife can work there and leave all her stuff out when she's not working so it's not cluttering up the dining table. Nu Wa has some other floorplans with a similar "extra" slide.

Don't ask me the brand or even where I saw it, but I saw a trailer once that had a rear bedroom. In the bedroom the bed folded up against the wall and then attached to the bottom of the bed was a desk that folded down. It only took a few seconds to convert it from bedroom to office and there was really a lot of space once the bed folded up. Maybe somebody else has seen this and can give more info.

We do exactly what you propose with our 42' Voltage Toy Hauler. The 14' garage is the ultimate flex room. When we move, it holds our motorcycles, and when we are at our site, bikes come out and I set it up as my office. Additionally, with the happy jack beds, we can use the room as a "dining room" or if we have guests, as a guest bedroom.

Ours has a 19k GVWR, and was in the 15k range when dry.

There is a fifth wheel with a bunkroom in the center of the unit (versus the typical bunkhouse at the front or rear):
Crossroads Cruiser/CF355BL

You could likely modify that bunkroom.

Look at Open Range some have a slide out "desk" which is a very large lap drawer for keyboard, mouse, and paperwork. Laptop can sit on the credenza which holds the television
