- Dutch_12078Explorer II"Stuff" has a habit of expanding over time to fill the available space. Buy a floor plan you like with the biggest CCC (Cargo Carrying Capacity) your budget will allow and your truck will haul. ;)
- janegowestExplorerWell...we have two in mind...one small unit - 32' with 3,700 cargo capacity, and another that is 36' 11" with 1,750 cargo capacity. I love the FP on the longer one. It is ideal. The shorter one...I am not so crazy about the FP. It is a rear entry, but does have the same amount of storage space as the longer one.
We thought we might take the shorter one to have better access to NPs, but not sure if we will be comfortable in such a short coach... - NaioExplorer IIAs one person who goes 6-9 months at a time, I struggle to stay under 1500lbs.
That's with about 10 gallons of water, food for a couple of weeks, and tools.
I think dealers sometimes say 1500lbs total for a family. That's flat out lying, IMO. - dave17352Explorer

32 foot unit with 3700 pounds cargo that is huge. - NYCgrrlExplorerA 32'-36' is big for my thinking BUT I'm not interested in fulltiming for more than 2 years and as such have different needs. Still if I had a longer term interest I guess I'd just know how much the items I felt were essential, weighed, as well as their volume and then chose an RV unit accordingly. The internet is your friend on that level as you can plug in the model number of most anything and pull up it weight and dimensions which will give you the volume.
HTH and have fun! - K_CharlesExplorerWe only go a few months at a time and could never live with only 1500 lbs of stuff.
- janegowestExplorerHere's one that has 4,045! And only 30'!

Yes, this I know. I just do not know how much is typically carried. Since this would be our first RV, we have no idea exactly what we would carry. - janegowestExplorer

So, how many pounds would you allow for in a 5er, in terms of CCC? - 3oaksExplorerDepends on what individual needs/wants might be. :@
We go for six to 8 week excursions and never carried over 1200 lbs of cargo and that's with our 85 lb Golden.
