buying a 2004 Monaco Diplomat

We are considering buying a 2004 Monaco Diplomat but my wife is afraid it's too old. It's only got 23,000 miles, looks great and has been very well taken care of. I know that Monaco has a great reputation for quality but is 2004 too old for a diesel-pusher? We are going to FT next year.
  • Not at all. We were looking in the 04-06 range ourselves for our soon to be full timing coach. Just so happened we found this 06 Diplomat. We are so excited!! Just brought it home a week or so ago. Important thing is good service and maintenance records on the engine and chassis as well as the house components, and a good professional inspection top to bottom. Without it meeting those criteria you need to move on in your search. Good luck!!

  • Not too old IF it has been kept under cover. Be prepared to spend thousands though on the list of five year maintenance stuff.

Replace all fluids; trans, engine, power steering, rear end, belts, hoses, coolant and probably tires. Repeat for genset. $$$
  • 23k on a diesel?? Not a problem. Have it checked out by a pro before buying. Monaco keeps records on all coaches sold, check with them to see if there was any factory repairs done.
  • Nope. I've got one and sticking with it. I maintain it well so it still looks good and everything works. You may want to upgrade the TVs to HDTV if the current owner has not, so a little upgrade expense there. Tires should be replaced if they are original.
