Insurance Question

Hello,

I have a insurance question I'm hoping someone can help me with.

We travel full time and have full coverage on both of our vehicles, and a full timers policy on our 5th wheel. We do however pull a 12ft cargo trailer behind our second vehicle everywhere we go.

We have recently started a "business" and bought the trailer and very expensive contents new. The way I understand it is that the trailer and contents are covered when hooked to my SUV driving down the road, and while home and not hooked up, it's covered under a homeowners policy.

We don't have a brick home, or any homeowners policy. It's sitting not connected to my SUV at the campground now.

Does anybody know an insurance company that I can pay to cover my trailer and contents separately so that I can sleep at night?

There's some severe storms here and I can just imagine it flying away with all my stuff in it.

Thanks for your suggestions and help!
  • Progressive offers a policy for full timers that offers to buy additional coveage for personal effects. At least a place to get coverage.

    This.
  • You need business insurance.

  • You should contact your insurance agent and request coverage on the trailer and its full contents as it is a business asset. As a business asset the cost of insurance is a deductable expense and I don't think you basic my policy would cover the loss. Job
  • Not sure who carries your insurance but a fulltimers policy should cover your RV and contents when it's parked. Either way, you should get that clarified, in writing, for your own peace of mind.
