Leaving rig someplace to fly home periodically?

Did it all the time and will do it again when we go back to full time.

We vacation quite frequently (~5 weeks per year) and just find a nice RV park to keep it in while we're gone. Usually have the park staff or neighbors keep an eye on it while we're gone (e.g. checking refrigerator).

Yep it's a bit costly, but no worse than when we owned a house.

Privately owned campgrounds usually have a storage area for a reasonable cost. Some government owned campgrounds might have a storage area, but very few.

Lots of storage yards and rv parks.

If I knew someone well and they had lots of land, I might consider it on non-commercial private land but doing a craigs list type deal, I would shy away from.

Flew to family last thanksgiving for a week while we're at Sams casino in Vegas then another relative for over a week at Christmas while at Avi casino in Laughlin (drove the two hours to Vegas to fly out. ) we try to be near a major airport . we will fly somewhere this holiday season and will leave the coach in south Texas at a park. Sometimes we tell the park we are leaving sometimes not depending on how comfortable we feel with management . Irregardless they have my number. Never had a problem yet

We haven't done it yet, but have looked into it.

I'm retired US Navy and every military base I've ever seen has a secure location for storage of personal vehicles, boats and RVs. It would be dry storage but I'd feel good about leaving our home on a military base. I might have to pay for a full month storage, but it would be relatively cheap.

We've also met folks who needed short term storage and found a local RV park would give th a good price for a week or two storage.

We are also Thousand Trails members and many folks leave a rig at a TT location for a time, from a few weeks to several months.

Something else we have done is leave our TT at a friends gome, where it can be plugged into electricity and driven a few hundred miles for one/ two night visits with family members around Dallas, Houston, New Orleans Shreveport/ Texarkana.

We seldom have time (or desire) to pull the trailer quickly on a loop to see cousins, etc. leaving the rig with our friend is easier. I make sure to pay him a little for the electricity and his time checking in the rig. We also buy him and his wife a good dinner.

Certainly cheaper to than 1,000-1,500 miles towing. And a lot less tiring than driving that much in a week or 10 days.

We do it all of the time. It hasn't been home in over four years, currently stored in Redwood Falls, Minn., will pick it up in Oct and then store it in AZ for a while after Spring Ball Training.

We look to leave it someplace with good airplane connections, preferably Alaska Airlines and a reasonable distance from the airport for a taxi ride.

I'm sure if you absolved folks of all liabilities, there shouldn't be too many problems. I know I wouldn't have a problem, we're in San Antonio Tx. We never see snow, just the occasional tropical storms and tornados. LOL. But being in Tennessee you get ALL the Hurricanes that make landfall. LOL. J/k. We're 40 miles south of the int'l Air port on 20 Acres.

Many people will just leave theirs at their current Rv park either in the storage area or at their site.
