Vehicle insurance for full time rvers

In my opinion, all insurance is very expensive until one really needs it (sometimes even then). In my case, the insurance for my S&B plus occasional use motorhome was around $3,000/year. Now that I am a full-timer, my total home/motorhome insurance is about $1,800/year. The full-timer insurance includes constant use plus personal belongings plus other (read your policy/quote).

And insurance for full timers is much different than for those who do not and much more expensive.

Florida is my domicile state.

I use Miller Insurance and have National Interstate also. For both my truck and fiver.

No need to shop with agents ONLY in your domicile state. As someone already stated, many factors will affect your rate - including where you domicile, credit score, etc.

Whoever you call for quotes - Make sure you ask for 'Full Timer's' insurance. It is different then regular ole car insurance.

You certainly don't have to use an agent in the state you domicile. The policy will be written up with your domicile address regardless of what agent you use.

Also make sure you get liability insurance.

Ditto National Interstate Insurance. They specialize in full timers. They insure our Class A and our toad. Had 2 claims for windshields and they were both handled quickly and professionally.

Yes - any agent that is licensed to write business for the state you are domiciling in can write a policy for you. Many agent however are only licensed in the state where they are located.

Don't try to compare rates from another person's experience. Rates depend on your age, driving record, credit score, accidents, state and sometimes even the county within the state. All you can do is compare prices yourself on your own background.

That is VERY interesting. I attempted to stay with Geico when I started full-timing a couple years ago and they would not write a policy for full-timing. Maybe had something to do with the state or something.... More reason to check around I suppose.

Rates will vary from different companies due to region, experience, and several other factors so shop around.

I got my best rate at Geico for my fulltiming policy after trying several of the above mentioned, but I know that others have tried Geico and had better luck with the others also, so make sure you call several of them. Then recheck every couple of years.

We use Progressive. We can change our policy on the fly online. The price has gone down each of the three years we have had the insurance and we have diminishing deductibles and accident forgiveness. We were able to get a replacement value (rather than actual value) policy and additional contents coverage.
