The OP said he would sell it for 3k.
If you can do some or all of the work, it will make it easier to decide.
Also, what is the condition of the radiator? I understand they are very expensive for diesels.
And you said the body is great. How about the roof? Leaks? - mowingmanExplorerWhat engine??

Gbopp would know as each year he works on his to sit pretty in the driveway :B - Passin_ThruExplorerNew motor is 12,000. OH kit is 3-5k and you still have to buy bearings and seals. Labor is double what the OH kit is if you do it yourself so figure 8-12K.
- mowingmanExplorerYou could probably find a good takeout engine with some warranty for under $5000. Of course, you, or someone will still have to install it.
- desertratt1Explorerok i have a 1993 coachman santara i bought has major roof leak needs inside and outside sheeting replace on first 8 ft right now has a tarp on it. also it has major delamination issues. it has a 5.9 also 72k miles thinking of taking it out and parting it out and putting in the Bounder which has a great body. One concern i have is the Bounder has hydraulic breaks oshkosh chassis and allison at500. the coachman has spartan chassis and pacbrake and air brakes. the coachman is fixable but wont be cheap thus the possible purchase of the bounder. one concern is when the bounder 5.9 overheated would that effect the allison transmission? thanks for the in put.
