1997 F-53 Brakes

What ford chassis will my 1997 F 53 Cross reference with for Brake parts ? A lot of parts stores scratch their heads when you say F53, Also will radiator hoses cross reference as well?
  • Most stripped chassis do not cross reference for hoses. Many do not cross reference for brakes. Here is links to Oreilly's.
You may need to find new parts house.
Which one are you currently trying to use?
    Hoses
    Brakes
I usually try to print out sheets before I go.
  • As far as brake calipers, pads and brake lines go.......your F53 crosses over to a 1988-1997 F super duty....
  • Shop online with the discount ford oem websites by VIN. get the Ford part number.
  • I have bought the 97 F-Super Duty or F-450 brake pads and they are a direct fit.

The Oxygen sensor for the 460" dually F-350 from 1996 is also a direct fit.

So will spark plugs, transmission filter (4 wheel drive F-350) oil filter, cap and rotor, and other such things.

The hoses are special to the F-53 chassis, and nothing else will fit. It is due to the engine oil cooler, and much different radiator location compared to the truck locations.

I have not required power steering hoses yet, but when I do, probably will be from the local NAPA store.

If you have not done so, you might as well relace the belts that run the accessories. One of mine broke in Yellowstone, and I had no place to repair it. It ran the alternator, A/C compressor and helps run the fan and water pump. The second belt also helps run the fan and water pump, as well as power steering pump. I was able to drive it without the alternator by running my generator, but driving without power steering would have been difficult, especially in the mountains. Without the water pump or fan is nearly impossible for any distance, more than about 500 feet.

  • Look for the parts that you need on Rockauto.com. Rockauto will also show you the part number. Then you can take the part number to your local auto parts store or buy from Rockauto.

  • of the four local car places available to me; Auto Zone,Advance Auto, O'Reilly's and NAPA, NAPA has been the most knowledgable and have a deeper inventory for sourcing for my needs.
  • Go to your local Napa auto parts store. They list almost every aftermarket part available for the F53. I was able to purchase brake pads for our 2001 F53 without any problems. There wasn't any need for cross referencing. The parts were clearly listed for the F53 motorhome chassis.

X 2 Rockauto beats the socks off other parts stores especially name brand parts.

But, if you're not sure what you're looking for... Napa can't be beat when it comes to counter people who know what they are talking about.
