2000 Pace Arrow and tires

As I posted a few days ago we bought a 2000 Pace Arrow with 15k miles..excellent condition outside, imaculate inside. With 15k miles I understand that there are things that could come up. An inspection of the coach only found 2 coach batteries that needed replaced. Having a chassis inspection this week.

To a new class A owner (had a 33ft TT for 8 yrs) the tires look like they have only been on for a few months .. minus 15k worth of use. However, I do understand that age is a huge factor in tire condition and I have no reason to believe they are not original. They are Goodyear G159, 245/70r 19.5. I could not find a manufacture date.

Should I replace them?
  • we also have a 2000 PA Vision. YES, Get the tires dated!!!! If they are old replace. I have had two blow outs. One did no damage one tore the bottom up on pass side. Had to replace bath plumbing, had a shower put in place of tub/shower. You may have leaking faucets etc. No big deal either repair or replace.

If you have any questions I can help with don't hesitate.

  • Leaning on the side of safety, I have a quote locally for hankook ah-11, 245/70r 19.5. $1800 mounted plus tax. I'll have them put on in thenext couple of days.
  • If the coach really has only 15Km in, the tires may be pre 2000my. In this case, they may have three digit date code. Here is where to find the and read the date codes.
    Tire age
I think you had better count on buy a set of tires.

  • Find the DOT tire manufacturing date. Every tire has one, and it may be on the inside. And it looks like this:

This one is the 51st week of 2007.
  • Gbopp.... good advice. The problem I have is that I don't really know who to take it to around the Kansas City area that doesn't have a vested interest in selling me $2400 in tires. I'm taking it to a large truck shop for alighnment and will have them take a look. With plans to take grandkids on trips I don't want to skimp on safety.
  • I would have them checked by someone who is familiar with the date code on tires.

You have an 2000 Pace Arrow in excellent condition. I wouldn't take a chance on messing it up with old tires.
