2014 Navion IQ being repurchased as a LEMON

My husband & I bought a new 2014 Navion IQ on 6/5/14 with 2234 miles on the odometer. We drove it exactly 75 miles from the dealer when the Check Engine Light (CEL) came on. Of course I called the dealer when we got home and was told I needed to go to the nearest MB/Sprinter service center for diagnosis. Had to drive 65 miles to the nearest authorized service center where they replaced the GLO PLUG MODULE due to poor LIN communication problems. As i was driving out of the service center, the CEL came on again!!! Service manager said they had to run the computer again & reset. This took a good hour and then I drove it home with no problems. A few days later, went camping, used electrical hookups with no problems. Went we started engine up to come back home CEL went on again. Took it back to MB service center & this time a CONTACT PIN needed to be replaced. It was at this time that I was told this NEW vehicle had a prior CEL issue when it was in transit to the dealer. The ENGINE HARNESS was replaced at that time. Concerned that this was not disclosed to me at the time of purchase I proceeded to call the dealer, who said it was never disclosed to them so how could they be responsible. IN the meanwhile, we went on another camping trip and of course, RV drove fine to our destination but again, after disconnecting hookups, CEL came on again and also the GLO PLUG light. Took it back to service center and they now are sending out for a specialist to diagnosis problem. GLO PLUG RELAY malfunction, part replaced. Upset with this being a LEMON, I called Itasca/Winnebago Industries. Was told not their problem, call Mercedes Benz - which I did and now after 5 visits to MB/Sprinter service center in less than 2 months, with less than 2000 miles that we logged on the odometer, Mercedes Benz is re-purchasing our motorhome. Within the next 10 days I will be meeting with a mediator representative to surrender the vehicle where at that time I will receive a check for the downpayment I put down, along with any payments I made to the bank. In addition, they are paying off my RV loan to B of A. To have our last hurrah in our Navion, my husband and I drove to a local campground and stayed for a few days. RV drove fine after last repair and after disconnecting hookups, no light - yeah!! BUT, it came on after we got finished using the dump station. In addition to the CEL, the center lock system is not working nor is 2 electrical sockets...I do not know what to think anymore.
I personally believe that the computer in my RV is malfunctioning and causing bad readouts - the motorhome drives fine....... would love some feedback!

I imagine some buyers of new RV's have no problems to be fixed before they can fully enjoy their expensive new toy. Hopefully, few will have problems remotely like those described above. Few things are as frustrating as dealers and chassis makers playing ping-pong with new owners.

Sorry to hear about your disappointment. We just bought a new 2014 Navion 24j, and found a problem on our first shake down cruise. Warning lights on the dash console, traction lite & esp lite. This also disengaged the cruise control. The problem was in the steering, not indexed to the front wheels, about 5 degrees to the right detected by the on board computer. Winnebago referred us to the dealer, they referred us to Mercedes Benz, who could not handle the camper height(11 ft).
We eventually got it fixed with the dealers help. All paid for by MB. No one would accept responsibility.

Sounds to me like MB did.

BTW we did get a copy of the packing list from Winnebago, so, we do know who knew what and when. I have to say that the RV dealer did replace all the diesel fuel we used up looking for a repair shop.No body's perfect.

Welcome to the forum. Hope you will post again when you replace your RV. Glad you had good support from Mercedes despite the hassles getting it resolved.

Thank you everyone for your input. I love our motorhome and do not want this experience to deter us from getting another one. I love our Navion and realize that things can happen and hopefully our next experience with be painless. Our service guys at mercedes benz in Southern California were awesome. I never had to pay for a rental to use to get back to Santa Barbara. Always gave me a new mercedes to use for a loaner. This whole thing has perplexed them too and they are happy for me that MBUSA is buying it back.

Make sure you check CA laws about lemons to ensure you are getting all you deserve. In WI, the DMV website provides very specific information about what is a lemon and what the consumer is due, here is a link if it helps.

The MB chassis is great, but there are no experienced mechanics in abundance. a big repair like changing the wire harness is prone to cuase other problems. I would just give it back and buy a new motorhome with another chassis.

Good thing you are here in California.

We have the best lemon laws on the books. People may say a lot of bad things about us here but we have the best consumer protection laws there are.

Just the mention of it to a MFG here and they take notice real fast.

We had a real problem with a Honda and after several tries to fix it we went with the Lemon Law and got everything back, quickly.

If you are getting back every penny you put out for this vehicle consider yourself fortunate. Pretty much unheard of without a long drawn out battle.
