For the first time since owning a motor home with 50 amp, I'm plugged into 30 amp service. How will I know if I exceed 30amps? also, what will happen? such as if I turn both air conditioner units on? Is their built in protection or can you damage equipment?
Thanks

Firstly do you have a EMS and know that some coaches do not.
If so, it will see the 30 and there's usually a button setting for bringing it down, as well.
It will then act as 30 and shed what's needed temporarily to keep from tripping the pedestal breaker. I have seen where the charger isn't being recognized and if on with very low batteries, then you might trip the pedestal breaker, anyway. Either way, it doesn't hurt anything and what its there for.
I'm running on 30amps in the driveway at present and am able to run both ac's and the fridge as well. Nothing much else though with the ac's at about 12amps a piece, the fridge at about 3amps and another amp or so with the charger floating on charged batteries.
