Hello, does anyone know what the 30' one had for a chassis and what to look for?
I've searched some and it seems it could be a g.m. p-30 or a john deer
totally new to r.v's.
how would one tell one chassis from the other..'
The price is right.. come get it..
I haven't seen it in person, and I know it'll be a project..
as it's been sitting for 10+ years..
I have my fingers crossed it's the 454 not the 460 ford.. as I have a 496 with zero miles..
any info will be great.. as a newbie I'm green..

I owned a 34' 1989 Pace Arrow. I owned a 454 chev. Problems I had.

1. Bubbling of fiber glass on side.
2. Rear springs were Moryde rubber. I went through 3 sets in 8000 miles under warranty. My MH always sagged on one side in the rear.
3. Manifold warping. Replaced on warranty.
4. generator door would pop open due to heat when running the generator. I re-enforced it with aluminum angle. solved problem.
5. That MH is easily converted to use two power cords so both A/Cs can be run on shore power.

I tried to get the MH re-springed with leafs on rear. Nobody would attempt it. If I could have got leaf springs under the rear I probably would still own it.

My father-in-law has an 89 Pace Arrow. He has fixed pretty much the same list of stuff. He's got almost 190,000mi on it now. He's been across the states a couple times, across Canada, down to Mexico and up to Alaska.

Had replacement rear springs made (leafs) and it rides well. Replaced the stock exhaust manifolds with long tube headers. GM 454 was problem free once the headers went on.

He just bought a 91 Pace Arrow to replace it (less than 50,000 on the new one).

Wonder who did that--certainly not OE!

Yeah, Brett it sounds like the OP hasn't seen it yet. One or more of the digits in the VIN will ID the chassis mfg. See if you can get the owner to read you the VIN. There are several web sites that decode the VIN.

Look under the front end. If independent front suspension/A arm suspension, it will be a Chevy.

If solid front axle, it will be a John Deere or Ford.
