Roger is better than Allstate he has help me many times with my auto park problems.

There is an adjustable switch under the floor, under the steering column. You have to remove a sheet metal panel in the drivers front wheel well to access it. Its like a mini tie rod. It will be intuitive how to adjust it once you see it. It comes loose and looses its adjustment. I think the oldusedbear may have a photo of it.

In the mean time, put pressure on the column shifter toward neutral, with out going into neutral, when backing up. That usually will disengage the AP.

Yes, the "Auto Park" light comes on when reversing after everything warms up.

We just noticed the light. He already dropped the transmission and replaced the seals and changed the fluid several times. We just noticed the light after a recent trip. The light may have been on in the past to, but just not noticed.

Aside from what has been previously suggested we had the same problem a few years back, it was also my introduction to the auto park system. I put my 1996 Rexhall with a p-30 something chassis into reverse went a few feet and stopped hard. I am screaming at my brother-in law out the drivers window as I am sure he backed me into something. There was nothing behind me. Shifted to driver pulled forward no problem. Tried reverse same problem. Again no experience with auto park took MH to commercial truck replace in the desert. Could not duplicate problem once there. They said sounded like transmission spent $1500.00 service repair etc. They found no cause for problems I described. Turns out they knew nothing about the auto park either. Went to Las Vegas a couple day later problem started again. Found a rv repair garage he knew what the problem was. This time I was educated about this system. and after his inspection and no charge for his time we were on our way. The problem is the switch on the steering column that is operated when you shift from park to fwd/rev. It needs adjustment. To this day not done because of high labor estimates associated with this. I know to listen for brake pump cycling and know when brake system is disengaged. Best advice find some one familiar with the auto park system.

Yes you have the auto park system if you have the Chevy Chassis. If your do a search on here using oldusedbear as the author you will find more info on this system than you ever wanted to know. The short answer is remove the side plate to the black steel rectangular box located under the stairs, look in side and you will see two pressure switches, one is grey one is green. If the green switch is wet with transmission fluid change it. Once it leaks it won't hold pressure and the brake on the end of the transmission comes on. Also check the level of the white plastic tank that holds the transmission fluid it is probably low also and needs to be topped off.

Are you talking about the P 30 chassis AutoPark?
It's the parking brake for the chassis.
