Ace motor homes

Looking seriously at an Ace 30.1. Can I get some feed back from Ace motor home owners? Thanks so much.
  • We owned a 2014 Thor ACE 30.1. The only real issue I had with it was the way it drove. I had no issues with Thor or their customer service. Tried several different things to get it to drive ok but nothing helped. It liked to wander a lot, hard to keep it in my lane. Finally traded it off. Only thing I can recommend is to test drive it before you buy.
  • I traded my 5th wheel for an ACE 4 weeks ago. I got the 29.3, upon driving it first I had a heck of a time. I then checked the tire pressure and that was way low, after bring up to pressure I have no problem with the steering.

As for the unit its self down sizing from the 5th wheel is taking some adjustment. The only complaint is the placement of the King Jack ant. maybe different on the 30.1.
  • We bought a 2016 ACE 30.1 in February and have used it quite a few times since. We love ours. It's the right size for us, has all the features we consider were important. If you have specific questions, you can send me a PM and I will answer best I can.

We have a 2013 ACE 30.1 and love it. No major problems (except for losing the torque converter once, which was a Ford issue and covered under warranty, although it was a weird failure since the F53 is generally considered bomb proof). We've taken it all the way to the Pacific northwest and back, and we're planning a trip to California and back next year, and we've found that even on extended trips covering many miles and spending months in the unit it's just fine.

Didn't have a problem with wander, but we did find the ride to be harsh and so we switched over to softer shocks. We also added a rear track bar. With that setup, we've driven in 20mph (gusting to 30) cross-winds and it was fine, although at my skill level that's about as high as I'd care to go.

We did find that the components left something to be desired (like the Jensen TV), but such is to be expected in an entry-level coach and upgrades to such things are easy. We also did a number of mods although I understand lots of what we did are now standard in the 2017s.

Let me know if you have any questions or need further information.
